What's Vanina? And who's Vanina?

Vanina is a Lebanese Brand.

Two girls created it: Joanna Hayek & Tatiana Fayad, and they're both Lebanese Student in Beirut.

In 2006, a new war comes in to Lebanon. Everyone is staying home. Everyone is afraid of the bombs. There's nothing to do.

These girls take this opportunity to create a mini line of jewelry that will be sold. The benefits will be taken as a charity auction organized for children suffering from heart problems.

This mini collection had a great success very quickly. There were a lot of commands. This first collection won a big hit! They had this brilliant idea to recycle old Lebanese coins into a colorful collection.

Since than, our two students hunt around old souks, flea, or even sometimes in antique shops. The Vanina's collection has it's unique identity.

They recycle, rebuilt and rehash old jewelry with always a good sense of humor and with many small messages about life.

So this is the story of Tatiana and Joanne... A story always fun, retro, romantic and poetics!

Elie Saab dresses for fall 2010...

 

'Understated' is not a word that exists in Elie Saab's vocabulary. His take on Fall 2010 couture was a clear affirmation of that fact, the all-out glamour evident in billowing gowns, thigh high dress slits, and (my favourites) printed silks that swept up Auroras and night skies into cascades of starry silk.

Want to impress women?? First of all, dress well!

They say every man's heart is through his stomach...well every woman's heart is through a smart dresser. Gentlemen, you're not going to impress too many women if your favorite "date" outfit is a pair of sweats, your favorite t-shirt and ball-cap.

If you want to impress the ladies dress to impress! Here's a few handy hints:

1. Lose the ball-cap. Unless you're taking your lady to a ballgame, leave your favorite team cap at home.

2. Get rid of the sweats. You can wear it one time a week.. it's cool too sometimes!! Buy yourself a smart pair of well fitting jeans for casual and nice pair of trousers for day to day.

3. Women aren't impressed by t-shirts with silly comments on them. Get yourself some nice polo shirts if you still want the t-shirt look.

4. Buy a pair of casual leather shoes. Get rid of those smelly, torn running shoes!

5. We probably already know your name, so how about a nice fitting jacket that doesn't have your name stitched on the sleeve?

6. Find a good hairdresser and get a hairstyle that suits you!

7. Shave!
